In our experience people love it when we start talking to them about their goals, and how to hit them.

Put it this way, people get excited about goals.

Not just financial goals, but broader ones, about retiring early, buying a dream home, travelling, helping family, leaving a legacy, and making a mark in the world.

It is normal, as that example list above suggests, for any goal, to typically have a financial component of some sort.

That dream home is not coming to you, without having to pay for it.

There are, of course, many goals with little, if any, financial aspect to them. Getting fit, losing weight, and learning to dance would be good examples.

The truth is it does not really matter what the goal is there is always a way to get there if you know how.

So, what exactly is the secret? The main ingredient?

It is simple – the answer is action. And normally – significant and sustained action.

If you look at people who DON’T hit their goals, you will almost always see a failure to act.

This could be a failure to act in any meaningful way at the outset, so as not to even get off the starting blocks. Or possibly a failure to sustain action, once started.

You may often hear gurus on goals, say things like “shoot for the stars,” “set impossible goals” “go big” and encourage the most ambitious targets.

That is fine. But it does not matter what you set as your goal if it is not backed up by a plan and then, crucially, by meaningful action.
